Agents, Managers, and Subagents: Managers

CIAgent provides a package of commonly used agents which can integrate with managers. A manager is an application that manages SNMP agents on a network by issuing requests, getting responses, and listening for and processing agent-issued traps.

SNMP Architecture with Managers and Agents

Managers, like EnterPol, HP OpenView™ Network Node Manager, CA eHealth®, CA SPECTRUM®, and others, provide a single point for viewing, sending, and retrieving information from one or more agents and subagents.

When these managers are used with CIAgent, CIAgent extends the manager's functional capabilities. CIAgent increases the supported set of manageable information and allows the manager to have more control over the useful agent-side tasks (such as monitoring critical processes, log files, file systems, CPU usage, etc.).
