SNMP Research Begins Shipping Release 17.2

Knoxville, TN, April 21, 2010 - SNMP Research begins shipping Release 17.2 software to new customers and those with current Software Service Agreements. Release 17.2 of SNMP Research’s software is a maintenance and enhancements release.

In Release 17.2, SNMP Research’s products support new operating systems or newer versions of previously supported operating systems.

Products licensed for Microsoft® Windows® now support Microsoft® Windows® 7.
Select products with demand for Microsoft® Windows® with 64-bit architectures are now available.
Select products with demand for Microsoft® Windows® Embedded CE are now available.
Products licensed for NetBSD® now support NetBSD® 5.0.2.

In addition, Release 17 continues to offer:

IPv6-enabled management and configuration is standard in core products that run on operating systems that support IPv6.
Secure Sockets Layer protected connections can be enabled between cooperating processes such as between BRASS® Servers and BRASS Clients, or between EMANATE® Master Agents and Remotely-Coupled Subagents that run on separate machines.
Bonus CD containing MIBGuide™ or MIBGuide/Lite: a more intuitive, GUI-based MIB tool set for developers.

If developers wish to distribute SNMPv3 Configuration Wizard with their SNMPv3-supporting products, SNMPv3 Configuration Wizard redistribution rights are available for license.
XML-based SNMP messaging for management and agent tools are available for license.
A new way to do SNMP is available for license. Advanced Protocol Operations (APO)
- introduces aggregate objects and a more natural data model,
- allows a single request to operate on entire tables or rows,
- provides selectable levels to reduce SNMP packet size, and
- adds new utilities for easier and more efficient operations.
