Additional Information

SNMP Agents for Embedded Devices

When designing an SNMP agent that is small, fast, and extensible, embedded systems engineers reach for EMANATE®/Lite. EMANATE/Lite is an agent that builds all SNMP systems plus the MIB into a single process. This product is ideal for embedded systems on a single board with no intentions to add software or upgrade once in the field.

EMANATE/Lite can be compiled to support SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, and SNMPv3 with support for security and administration, authentication, authorization, access control, and privacy. This "trilingual option" preserves the investment in current management technology while providing a smooth transition to SNMPv3-based management.

EMANATE/Lite is optionally available as an SNMPv3-Only Edition. This is a special version of EMANATE/Lite that has been hardened for use in network environments having the most stringent security requirements to protect computing assets from intrusion. All program code for insecure SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c historic protocols is completely removed.

Because EMANATE/Lite is designed with a modular architecture, porting to new platforms is simple. This architecture can be extended to support additional MIB variables (including MIB II). The included agent tools and automatic code generators reduce coding time.

Additional information is available on the EMANATE/Lite Product Sheet (also see the links at the top of this page).

SNMP Research's EMANATE/Lite comes with support for a basic set of MIB objects. The engineer can choose which additional MIB objects the product should support. Extending EMANATE/Lite to incorporate these additional MIB objects is easy. The EMANATE/Lite package contains full source code and MIB Tools.

For a complete solution, consider adding EMANATE ONE/Lite.
