Java™-based programs provide build-it-once, run-it-anywhere solutions. By using Java, SNMP Research has created products that provide SNMP agent access to management information contained within a Java application.
SNMP Research offers two products which use Java: EMANATE® Subagent Development Kit for Java™-language Development and BRASS™ Management Application Development Kit for Java™-language Development.
Using Java as a front-end and C-language engine, these Java-language toolkits provide a modern development environment for Java developers who want to develop SNMP applications. Maintaining the engine in C is thought to make the code fast and efficient, while maintaining superior performance over a pure Java-language implementation.
The EMANATE® Subagent Development Kit for Java™-language Development allows custom SNMP agent functionality to be developed using the Java language. Java applications may now be instrumented for standards-based monitoring and management by incorporating Java classes which integrate with the EMANATE extensible agent system.

The BRASS™ Management Application Development Kit for Java-language Development from SNMP Research, Inc., is a software toolkit that simplifies developing SNMP network management applications using the Java language. These network management applications are typically deployed in an enterprise‘s network operations center (NOC) for use by network operations personnel. In contrast, Java-language SNMP agents can be developed and deployed in network devices using the Subagent Development Kit for Java-language Development.
